Why do research?
We initiated this project in order to share valuable market research data with downtown businesses to support business growth. I believe that a key to advancing business in the downtown is understanding who is here, how often, what they intend to do, and what they intend to spend. We used the results of the study to inform the Only Downtown Kzoo holiday marketing campaign. The research project is constantly evolving and collecting data throughout the year in order to inform future marketing initiatives.
Downtown businesses were asked to help with 3 things...
1. Provide A Weekly Prize
We collected 9 weekly prizes to go with our grand prize (free parking for a year)
Prizes were valued at a minimum of $50
2. Help Spread the Word at Your Business
We had posters, post cards and table tents available for display and distribution for downtown businesses and visitors.
3. Help Spread the Word Online
We built micro website to house the survey online, promoted the Giveaway via weekly blog and social media posts, (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram etc.). We asked businesses to share these with their networks as they were released.
